Todd Chrisley‘s prison is allegedly making time behind bars unbearable for the reality star. Recall that on November 21, 2022, Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, bagged a 12-year and seven-year jail sentence for tax evasion and bank fraud. The television personality began his prison sentence at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida on January 17, 2023. Unfortunately, the 54-year-old’s experience in jail so far has not been pleasant. According to recent claims, Todd Chrisley’s prison food is quite terrible. However, the prison denied the claims, calling their meals appetizing.
Todd Chrisley Sheds Light on the Horrible Prison Food
The alleged living conditions of Todd Chrisley’s prison have sparked worry for the disgraced celebrity’s health and safety. On December 8, the Chrisley Knows Best star opened up to NewsNation’s Brian Entin about the state of things in prison. The duo discussed various issues, including the alleged poor quality of Todd Chrisley’s prison food. The father of five told Entin he only ate what he made for himself at the commissary. Todd said everything about the prison was “disgustingly filthy.” He also claimed the food was out of date by a minimum of a year.
“It’s a year past expiration, and they are literally starving these men to death here,” Todd shared.
Additionally, Todd claimed rats and squirrels were roaming about in the food storage facility. He further alleged that on one occasion, a dead cat fell from the ceiling into their food. According to Todd, the officials prevented the media from seeing him and getting a full account of his living conditions.
Todd Chrisley’s Prison Denies The Claims
Amid all the buzz, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) denied the claims. In a statement to TMZ, they revealed the quality of food consumed in prison was their priority. They further explained that Todd’s claim of being served post-dated food was false, as they always discarded expired food. According to the FBOP, their food service mission’s aim was to provide healthy, nutritionally sound, and appetizing meals. Meanwhile, the FBOP urged other inmates to voice their concerns through the right channel — seeking a formal review through the prison’s Administrative Remedy Program.
