An Indiana mom blasted a Goodwill employee for allegedly not allowing her ten-year-old daughter to go into the dressing room with her. The video has reached nearly 50,000 views since it was posted and has received mixed reactions in the comments.
The woman claims that when she visited the Linton location, an employee told her, “My daughter is not allowed to go in the fitting room with me. My daughter had to go in there by herself.” The more she thought about it, the more fired up she became. She states that the situation was “the most [expletive thing I have ever heard.” Furthermore, she alleges that when she questioned the girl about it, she was asked, “My child has to stay out here by herself?”
The alleged response was that this was the employee offering to help with her child. The Indiana mother claims she wasn’t letting someone she doesn’t know watch her daughter. However, she states she was told: “absolutely not.” The woman states she was told that only mothers with infants could take their children with them. Furthermore, she argues the alleged policy is a mistreatment of mothers who never get to go shopping. She argues, “If that’s how we’re treating mothers, then I’m never shopping at this [expletive] Linton Goodwill again.” The reason she was upset has to do with safety. She states that a list of registered offenders was published for her area, and she wasn’t about to leave her daughter alone in a store with men she doesn’t know.
Indiana Mom Receives Mixed Reactions
The majority of the comments come from other mothers who applaud her actions. One says, “So sorry this happened to you, and proud of you for speaking up and bringing awareness to this store!” Another states, “There [are] way too many weird people out there not to keep an eye on your kids. I agree with you, momma.” A third comment reads, “She isn’t telling me anything. She can call the cops because NO ONE is separating me from my child.”
Meanwhile, others find the incident suspicious and suggest, “Take this to corporate. Something very, very odd about this ‘policy’.” Another agrees, “That person [who] told you this is making me think they were up to something if they’re telling mothers this. That’s a little suspicious in my eyes.” However, some feel she overreacted. One comment reads, “So she offered you help, and you didn’t agree with it. Stop complaining and grow up. No one is forcing you to shop there.” The woman responds to other negative comments with videos posted on her channel.
The Goodwill company reportedly responded to her video, claiming that parents and caregivers are allowed to bring their children into dressing rooms with them at any location.
