‘Inept’ Secret Service Fail to Protect JD Vance Home from Cincinnati Attacker: ‘It’s Just Ironic, Given the Amount of Protection’

Not a good look at all..

Despite being a first-world country, the United States hasn’t exactly been the safest place to live during this administration, not like it was exactly a safe nation beforehand. Hate crimes, violence, police brutality: you name it; the citizens haven’t had it easy, on top of the economic problems the White House has caused. Politicians can’t escape danger either, as an individual has reportedly attacked Vice President JD Vance‘s home in Ohio, shattering the glass of four windows.

According to police reports, Secret Service failed to stop a 26-year-old from entering JD Vance’s property, giving the attacker time to smash in four windows with a hammer. Cincinnati news outlet WLWT states that the damages cost more than $28,000. As a result, the suspect was arrested and charged with trespassing, misdemeanors, vandalism, and other crimes. The Vice President and his family weren’t in the house at the time of the incident but had already returned to DC.

I appreciate everyone's well wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I'm grateful to the secret service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly.

We weren't even home as we had returned…

Not wanting to make his children worry about their safety, Vance made a post on X, saying he doesn’t think it’s a good idea to have “images of our home with holes in the windows” plastered all over the news. While it makes sense to want to keep one’s family safe from physical and psychological harm, it’s a bit unrealistic to think that anyone, especially the public, wouldn’t want to see what sort of damage was done to the politician’s house. As for the public’s reaction, many online commenters were taken aback by how the Secret Service was not able to protect the VP’s home until after the damage had been done.

The Secret Service Is Under Fire for Not Properly Protecting the VP’s Home

“How inept is the Secret Service that anyone was able to get that close to the house? They have 24 hour guards stationed there even when he’s not home!” exclaimed one Redditor. “I think it’s just ironic, given the amount of protection,” agreed another. “The fact he got that far and did that much damage is unacceptable to happen to any residence that has security but especially a residence owned by the Vice President of the USA,” chimed in a third.

Many people opposing the Trump administration doubtless have their critical perspectives about JD Vance. However, it’s still both telling and disturbing that his family could have been in danger had he been in Ohio at the time of the attack. The Secret Service has already had its reputation sullied once back in 2024 during Trump’s Pennsylvania rally, and news like the Vice President’s home being vandalized doesn’t really put hope in the eyes of the people.
