Internet Blames Nevada Man After Only One Person Came to His Dog’s Birthday Party: ‘That’s Why People Didn’t Show Up’

Is is a bad case of entitlement?

One dog owner in Nevada claimed he overestimated how many people would show up for his dog’s birthday, leaving him with nothing but leftovers and disappointment. Under the username LIVE-LIFE-EVIL, this man posted to r/Wellthatsucks to mope about how only one guest came to celebrate. “Personally, I feel upset for my dog and on a personal level,” he dejectedly wrote.

Most people wouldn’t take their pet’s birthday this seriously, but LIVE-LIFE-EVIL spoke as though he’s been betrayed. “I invited a bunch of friends that I hang out with all the time,” he explained, adding how the only person that showed up was a new friend. He didn’t cheap out on preparations either, sharing how he cleaned his place and cooked fancy food and people’s favorite liquors.

Tens of thousands of Redditors expressed sympathy for LIVE-LIFE-EVIL; it was his dog’s big day after all. “You were there, that’s all your dog wants,” a commenter wrote. “Upset for your dog? Bro these people don’t like you. I’m upset for you,” remarked a second. “I know, like imagine if it was my birthday. People suck,” LIVE-LIFE-EVIL said in response.

To clear up confusion in the comments, OP also admitted that he believes his dog’s birthday is actually irrelevant and was just a chance to get together with his friend group. However, during his clarifications, he also confessed to something that made people lose sympathy for him instantaneously.

The Nevada Man Claims He Personally Only Invited Two People, Sparking Backlash

When asked whether he understood that his friends didn’t care as much for his pet as he would have liked, he spilled the beans on his invitation list. “Like I told 2 people that it was my dog’s birthday. My roommate invited everyone else under the pretense it was just a party to hang out and eat food,” LIVE-LIFE-EVIL explained.

“So you didn’t even invite anyone yourself, your roommate supposedly did? There’s your issue, buddy,” scolded a Redditor. “That’s why people didn’t show up,” agreed another. “They’re your friends, not your dog’s,” added a third.

Based on the Nevada dog owner’s interaction with Reddit users in his post’s comments, he might have failed to put in the effort to invite people himself, hence the single guest. Not to mention, he seemingly misunderstood how seriously others would take his roommate’s invitations.

As one person aptly put it, “If I was one of those friends, I’m not sure I’d have even believed the invitation was real. ‘My roommate is having a birthday party for their dog’ sounds like a joke.”
