Heartless would be an understatement to describe the intoxicated truck driver who killed five people in a deadly crash on Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas. Police took 37-year-old Solomun Weldekeal Araya into custody for causing a 17-car pileup, which resulted in multiple deaths and life-threatening injuries. What infuriated many online users was how Araya could barely speak English and showed no empathy for taking people’s lives.
Araya was hired by ZBN Transports LLC, which is apparent by the logo on the semi-truck he was driving. Many believe it is appalling that the company would hire someone as incompetent in English as Araya. “I can not believe he is allowed to drive a truck. He can barely speak English nor understand it,” remarks a user on X. “Anyone that drives on the roads should be able to speak English. Especially in a commercial 18 wheeler. So dangerous,” seconds another.
People also pointed out how the Texas truck driver was wearing flip-flops, which is unprofessional and likely a safety hazard for someone handling a massive truck. Many also question if he’s even legal. But what’s most infuriating is how he doesn’t seem to care at all about the chaos he’s caused.
“They’re f***ing dead, bro!” says another trucker speaking to Araya in a video uploaded to X. The one recording had to tell the killer multiple times that people died in the catastrophic pileup, but Araya seemed relatively unphased and kept walking off, mumbling unintelligible words. One Redditor commenting on the report claims that Araya even “tried to flee the scene and had to be restrained by bystanders until the police arrived.” They concluded with “Not at all innocent/accidental behavior.”
Another Redditor reveals that Araya had “pending court date in Wilmer (DFW), TX for Speeding,” specifically, he was going “63 mph in a 30mph zone.” “This is 10000% on the company who employed him,” replies a commenter, referring to ZBN Transports. “They should have NEVER let him operate a semi.” While ZBN might not be guilty of the deaths or injuries of multiple people, it should indeed be held responsible for hiring such a careless and reckless person as Araya.
