Iowa MAGA Voters Furious at Trump for Failing to ‘Make America Great,’ But the Internet is Skeptical: ‘They’ll Still Vote For Him’

Fourth time’s the charm?

President Donald Trump is facing an uncomfortable message from an unlikely place: Iowa, where some of his own longtime supporters are now openly expressing frustration with the president ahead of the midterm elections. For those who might be unaware, Iowa is well known to be a triple Trump-supporting state; hence, the current sentiment from some of its MAGA voters, former and otherwise, has gone viral.

Street interviews conducted earlier in the week in Fort Dodge, Iowa, by MSNOW captured several traditionally conservative voters unloading on Trump over what they described as broken promises, stubbornly high prices, and disappointment with his leadership.

‘RESIGN’: Iowa resident’s advice to Trump as she sees Trump signs disappear from red state

One of the most striking responses came from Shane Foot, an Iowa voter who said he had supported Trump three times. When asked whether he was disappointed after Trump promised to bring down prices, Foot did not hesitate. “Very disappointed, very disappointed,” Foot said. Foot explained that prices had not fallen as he had expected, adding that he was increasingly “over” what he called the “Trump wagon.”

Given the opportunity to deliver a message directly to the president, Foot offered a blunt response: “Stop the bull[expletive], make America great, as you said.” Another Fort Dodge resident was similarly furious, saying he would tell Trump to “[expletive] you” if given the opportunity.

A third voter offered a more personal criticism, saying they hoped Trump would “regain control of his mind” and reconnect with the people he claims to serve. The comments are particularly notable because Iowa remains a deeply conservative state, and Trump has enjoyed strong support there. But the recent interviews suggest that at least some voters who once backed the president enthusiastically are growing tired of waiting for the economic improvements they were promised.

People Online Are Raising Their Eyebrows

Polling cited in the reports also points to broader dissatisfaction. A recent Economist/YouGov survey found Trump with a negative net approval rating in 47 of the 50 states, with particularly poor numbers in several battlegrounds. Yet the reaction online was far less sympathetic toward Trump voters expressing regret.

Some commenters argued that Foot and other Trump supporters were simply experiencing the consequences of choices they had already made. “THIS is what YOU voted for!” one commenter wrote. Another critic predicted that the criticism would ultimately change nothing: “They’ll still vote for him. Also against there own interest.”

The more jaded commenters, however, are not exactly optimistic about the current situation, even though it appears that some of the MAGA voters in Iowa are becoming disillusioned. One of them claims, “It literally doesn’t matter, they will vote up and down the card red either way.” For now, Iowa’s street interviews provide a striking snapshot of a Republican base that may be increasingly unhappy, though not necessarily ready to walk away.
