Very few people enjoy the intrusion of strangers in front of their home. It’s debatably worse when those strangers are sales people pushing their products or services. One woman in New York has gone out of her way to prevent this, by placing a no-solicitation sign directly on her door. What happens if people ignore her? This Buffalo homeowner isn’t about to let it slide.
TikToker @raeren3617 recently went on her channel to put Stellar Roofing on blast. She claims that despite her disinterest and her sign that bans door-to-door sales, an employee out selling their services refused to take no for an answer.
I told this guy to get off my property. I told him to leave, and that we weren’t interested. I pointed to the sign, and he said he’s technically not soliciting… he sees an issue with my roof.
Rae did not appreciate his feeble attempts to excuse his behavior. She was even more annoyed by his choice to stand and argue, instead of just leave her in peace.
Rae also says that she asked the employee, who came from Stellar Roofing in Buffalo, New York, to leave at least three times. She finds his failure to comply completely unacceptable. She also wants Stellar Roofing to teach their staff the meaning of “no solicitation” so that this doesn’t happen again.
Buffalo Homeowner’s Solicitation Stance Discussed
Viewers from home left a mixture of comments. One person seemed to feel the employee was doing his job, and reminded others that they’re working on commissions.
Others strongly disagreed, calling it “absolutely ridiculous behavior,” as well as predatory marketing.
Rae echoed their sentiments, responding that these companies are trying to work around the law.
“That was so f**king rude, and I’m busy. I don’t have time for this crap,” she exploded.
It’s easy to see where she’s coming from. Rae’s TikTok describes her as battling thyroid cancer. And while it’s unclear if she dealt with the stranger when no one else was home, she stresses the sign was put up for a reason.
Other viewers added that vulnerable people, such as the senior community, those who are chronically ill, or women who live all alone, should not have to deal with intrusions that they’ve preemptively banned via sign.
