These days, whenever you hear news about ICE, it’s usually tied to fear, raids, and people getting arrested left and right. But this time, the tables turned just a little. In a video shared on social media, something unexpected happened when an ICE agent’s car was towed from a hospital parking lot. There isn’t much information about the incident, other than that it took place at Saint John’s Hospital in Oxford, California. In the video, a tow truck is seen pulling a white government vehicle out of the lot. The sun is low on the horizon, casting a dim light over the scene as a crowd gathers nearby.
People around the area can be heard cheering and shouting. The man filming the moment lets out a chuckle as the ICE vehicle is dragged away. Some bystanders yelled, “Get out of here!” while others simply cheered and clapped. It’s still unclear why the vehicle was towed. Maybe the agent parked where they shouldn’t have or violated some California hospital policy.
Regardless of the reason, it felt like a rare win for the people. It’s no secret that ICE agents have a history of targeting hospitals, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they had come to the California hospital for that very reason. But for once, the story ended with them being the ones removed. At least their car was.
Many Reddit users also expressed satisfaction at seeing the ICE agent’s car being towed. One user simply wrote, “Rare towing W,” while others joked that more towing companies should follow suit and start targeting government vehicles when they break the rules. One commenter added, “When ICE agents exit their vehicles to illegally apprehend someone, a bystander just needs to slit the valve stems on their tires with a $5 pocket knife or something. Those ICE agents aren’t going anywhere after that.”
Another user suggested a more subtle approach by removing the valve stem to let the air out and then putting it back in. However, some warned that tampering with ICE vehicles could be dangerous, pointing out that agents tend to have the kind of personalities that would shoot first and ask questions later.
There were also some theories about why the car was towed in the first place. One user guessed, “Looks like they were blocking the emergency entrance based on the red signage in the top right.” Another remarked, “And thus marks the first time in history that people cheered a tow truck driver…”
