Disney has released its ambitious racing title Speedstorm on several platforms, but does the game support crossplay functionality? Crossplay, or cross-platform, is a feature that allows gamers to play online multiplayer on different platforms. For example, crossplay would allow you to play Disney’s Speedstorm multiplayer with another player on a different console. You could have the game on PlayStation while your friend has it on an Xbox. It’s a feature common among modern games, yet you will occasionally not see it on some titles. Speedstorm is on over half a dozen platforms, making cross-platform a vital function.

(Updated on August 8, 2024 – updated links and format)
Disney Speedstorm is available on PC, mobile, and multiple consoles, including PlayStation, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch. The developers at Gameloft have confirmed through the Speedstorm questions and answers page that the game does support cross-platform functionality. That means you can play the game with your friends on different hardware. It doesn’t matter what console or computer your group owns.
Disney Speedstorm also supports cross-progression, a function that allows you to carry over your progression from one saved file to another. However, you must have bought the Founder’s Pack for each platform you play on to use the cross-progression function. You must also create a Gameloft ID and enable account linking between all versions of your game.
What Are the Disney Speedstorm Multiplayer Options?
There are several multiplayer modes you can play on Disney Speedstorms online. All modes are based around playing as one of Disney’s most prominent characters and racing on tracks inspired by classic Disney films. The title continuously adds new race tracks for you and your friends to play on. Each of these modes takes advantage of the crossplay functionality in the game.
- Local Freeplay/Private Track: Set up an online room exclusively for you and your friends. Play on custom races and tracks.
- Ranked Multiplayer: Challenge random strangers online. The game sets you up to face other players on your skill level. Your racing level is determined by how many online races you participate in and how many times you’ve won.
- Regulated Multiplayer: Race against other players on an equal playing field. Every racer is set on the same level.
