Exoprimal puts you and several other players against waves of fierce dinosaurs. You can play several game modes along with scheduled crossover events that offer new challenges. While playing with friends on other consoles due to a lack of crossplay support, there are other game modes. Exoprimal is primarily a multiplayer game, but your friends won’t always be online. You might not prefer to play with random strangers since it’s hard to coordinate strategies with them. It makes you wonder if Exoprimal has single player options available. Here are all game modes in Exoprimal and whether there are single player options for any of them.
All Game Modes In Exoprimal
Exoprimal has 11 game modes to choose from, which you unlock as you progress. They are:
- Dinosaur Cull – The basic mode where you shoot multiple dinosaurs
- Dino Pursuit – Chase down a certain large dinosaur that moves through multiple areas
- VTOL Defense – Defend a crashed plane from waves of dinosaurs, making sure it isn’t destroyed
- Data Key Security – Escort a data key to a drop point, fighting off dinosaurs
- Omega Charge – Use an Omega Hammer to destroy barriers
- Energy Taker – Steal energy from other players to obtain the highest amount
- Escort – Protect an NPC from other enemies
- Neo T-Rex – Fight against a large Neo T-Rex, similar to a large boss fight
- Vortex Sabotager – Destroy a vortex generator that summons dinosaurs
- Area Defense – Protect areas against waves of dinosaurs
- Uplink Control – Capture-the-flag style gameplay, take the opponent’s Uplink zones while defending yours
Most of these modes will have you playing against other teams, which means you are always competing.
Can These Modes Be Single Player?
Teamwork and cooperation are essential in Exoprimal, and playing alone is not recommended. If players do drop out, you can have them replaced by bots to continue playing. You cannot have a game starting with bots or be the only human player in a match. All games must involve other players, with bots only coming in if connection problems persist. If too many players drop out, then the game will likely end prematurely.

You will need an online connection, such as PlayStation Plus, to play the game. Fortunately, the game is significantly better when you play and coordinate with others. If your friends join in, you can create strategies and get better teamwork than a random group of people. Gather some friends or make new ones to survive the dinosaur onslaught.
