Video game franchises don’t get much more sprawling than Final Fantasy. With more than a dozen entries in the main series alone, Square Enix has already given us a lifetime of FF to dive into. While the Final Fantasy 7 remake drew plenty of (justified) attention, Ever Crisis brought its own spin to these beloved characters. Cloud’s adventures keep their turn-based combat mechanics this time, but if you want to get in on the JRPG battles, you’ll need to find a way to play it first. So is Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis on PC?

Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is on PC. You can play it on Steam as well as mobile, so whether you’re looking for an FF fix at home or on the go, you’re covered. It’s not uncommon for mobile-exclusive games to later make the jump to PC, and Ever Crisis thankfully did just that.

Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is a free-to-play mobile game complete with gacha mechanics made by Applibot. A subsidiary of CyberAgent, the developer is mostly known for another joint project with Square Enix, NieR:Re[in]carnation. Along with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series for PC and console, it remakes and/or adapts the events of the FF7 franchise. The game currently covers the stories of these titles at the time of writing:

  • Final Fantasy VII, both original and Remake version
  • The First Soldier, the short-lived mobile battle royale spin-off
  • Crisis Core, the Zack-focused spin-off

The game is launched with a Chapter-based system. Like many online and mobile games, it will be updated with new Chapters monthly post-launch. Ever Crisis is also exploring more of Sephiroth’s background, detailing his rise and fall as a SOLDIER.

In terms of gameplay, Ever Crisis is geared toward classic turn-based command RPG. In contrast to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake which was made with real-time combat in mind. All playable party members are obtained by playing the game’s Story Mode. Through the gacha or loot box system, players can get new weapons and Gear aka outfits for the characters. Co-Op Mode allows three players to tackle tough missions together.

While exploring the story, characters will be represented with blocky super-deformed models unlike in the original PS1 game. Once players get into combat, the graphical fidelity changes substantially, adopting realistic models just like the Remake version.
