Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of the most hotly-anticipated titles of the season and all of 2024. It’s touted as a faithful yet expansive reexamination of Square Enix’s most beloved entry in its flagship series for Western audiences. But with fans on multiple platforms, players might wonder whether Final Fantasy 7 is exclusive to PlayStation or if it’ll go elsewhere soon. We’re happy to clear up any confusion!
Is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth a PlayStation Exclusive?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive; it will not go to other platforms for three months until May 29, 2024. Given that FF7 Remake went to PC after its timed exclusivity ended, we can likely expect a similar path for Rebirth. However, PlayStation 4 players might be out of luck, as it appears Rebirth will skip their platform.
Will FF7 Rebirth Come to Xbox?
Although the Xbox console ecosystem is equipped to handle Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, it will remain a PlayStation console exclusive. This is likely related to Sony’s reported outbidding against Microsoft on Square Enix projects. Until otherwise stated, don’t hold your breath if you want FF7R on Xbox.
This is the case despite 7-13 and 15 being on Xbox consoles, with FFXIV opening its Xbox beta on February 21, 2024.
Will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Come to Nintendo Switch?
This is doubtful due to the Switch’s limited hardware unless its next console is powerful enough to handle FF7R.
All FF7 Rebirth Platforms Listed
Ahead of its February 29, 2024 release date, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is slated to release for PlayStation 5. Future updates will be made when other platforms are announced for the game.
