Since the appearance of Acheron in Version 2.0, Honkai Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd players have continued noticing significant similarities between her and Raiden Mei. But this is not the first time these similarities have occurred between HoYoverse games. Speaking specifically of Raiden Mei, the same thing happened during Raiden Shogun’s debut in Genshin Impact. This is due to their physical resemblance, some of their symbology, and they even share the element of lightning. A few similarities might be fine, but these three characters share so many aspects that fans have questioned whether they can start calling it the Raidenverse instead of HoYoverse.
How Are Acheron, Raiden Mei from Honkai, and Raiden Shogun Related?
The short answer is that they are not related in any way or are the same character. They indeed share essential features of their lore, but they are easter eggs that the company has put in place for those who play their other video games. Shaoji, the lead story writer for both Honkai games, revealed this in the Honkai Star Rail Version 2.1 Special Program. He explained that there are references between the games but that the three are different characters. One example Shaoji gave was that in Honkai Star Rail’s presentation of Acheron, a silhouette with horns appears similar to Raiden Mei, and even the environment is identical to Raiden Shogun’s Plane of Euthymia from Genshin Impact. However, Shaoji asked the viewers to observe because the horns were different.
Another aspect they share is that Raiden and Acheron somehow relate to snakes. Being that Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact joins the World Serpent; Acheron has serpent motives in her clothes and in her video with Black Swan; and Raiden Shogun kills the Serpent God of Watatsumi in Genshin Impact. Also, their personalities are similar; they are calm and do not have so many facial expressions. Besides, her main weapon is the Katana; even if Raiden Shogun is a polearm user, she uses the sword of her twin Makoto in her burst.
The fans must still discover if Acheron can cook like Raiden Mei or if it is a mess in the kitchen like Raiden Shogun. This similar design that the three of them have is a fan favorite, which has made them love it through time and all the HoYoverse universes. Hopefully, someone else with these same waifu characteristics will appear for Zenless Zone Zero in the future, but who knows? Ultimately, one thing’s for sure. Our wallets will run dry as soon as we see this purple-haired beauty.
