In one of them, Clive and Joshua test their powers now that they have their Eikons manifested. Once the clash between them is over, only Clive remains and this rises the question of whether Joshua is dead in Final Fantasy 16.

In that phenomenon fight that caught everyone’s attention, Joshua does die but he will be brought back to life thanks to the power of the Phoenix. In case you didn’t know, Phoenixes are immortal creatures that burst into flames and ashes when they get old and then are reborn from the ashes. Hence they have the ability to bring back someone from the dead only if not a long time has been passed. Once Joshua comes back from the dead he goes into hiding to enhance his powers.
