Final Fantasy 16 had one of the best stories along with some fantastic fight scenes through boss fights of this year so far. It marked a big change in direction for the series, and while some older fans of the series may not like all the new stuff about FF16, it’s undoubtedly opened the door to a new audience. The story, in particular, has been widely praised; it’s inspired by political fantasy stories like Game of Thrones. Powerful houses fight with each other to gain something they want and it middle a lot of relationships and friendships dying, like the brotherhood of Joshua and Clive. If you are wondering whether Joshua is dead in Final Fantasy 16, here’s what you need to know.

Does Joshua Die in Final Fantasy 16?

It is safe to say Final Fantasy 16 has one of the most breathtaking starts in recent games. The first hours of the game are filled with a lot of action and important plot sequences. In one of them, Clive and Joshua test their powers now that they have their Eikons manifested. Once the clash between them is over, only Clive remains and this rises the question of whether Joshua is dead in Final Fantasy 16.

In that phenomenon fight that caught everyone’s attention, Joshua does die but he will be brought back to life thanks to the power of the Phoenix. In case you didn’t know, Phoenixes are immortal creatures that burst into flames and ashes when they get old and then are reborn from the ashes. Hence they have the ability to bring back someone from the dead only if not a long time has been passed. Once Joshua comes back from the dead he goes into hiding to enhance his powers.

His practices to enhance his powers pays off and now he is more powerful than ever. Which attracts the attention of the Kingdom of Waloed and also his brother Clive. The reason Joshua left Clive and didn’t tell him anything was to save him. Clive was targeted by Ultima as a host that could steal the powers of Eikons and reshape them. Joshua first saw this when they fought and then decided to stay hidden for the safety of Clive until he was powerful enough to help him.

Final Fantasy 16 is only available on PlayStation 5.
