Todd Chrisley doesn’t seem to have any plans to file another appeal, despite the family stating they were going to continue to fight his conviction. Fans are speculating that the Chrisley patriarch may be banking on a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. What are the odds something like that could happen?
Fans Speculate About a Trump Pardon
Julie and Todd Chrisley were found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion. The former reality TV couple was sentenced in November 2022. Todd received 12 years in prison with 16 months of probation. Julie got 7 years behind bars and 16 months probation. Of course, the couple immediately appealed their case, starting in late 2022.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta heard the appeal in April 2024. While they upheld Todd Chrisley’s sentence, they vacated Julie’s on June 21, 2024. Ultimately, the court ruled that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to hold Julie accountable for any of the crimes before 2007. So, Julie Chrisley was set to be resentenced.
Many people were hopeful that Julie would get out of prison early. However, those hopes were dashed when the court upheld the Chrisley Knows Best star’s initial sentence of seven years. That said, fans think that Todd Chrisley and the family might be holding out for a presidential pardon.
One Reddit user asked, “What happened??? I thought Todd was going to appeal his loss after the appeal court ruling… has he given up?? or is he banking on a Trump pardon?”
“Unless the criminal in chief gives the Chrisley Criminals a pardon, they will be serving out all the rest of their time, as they should,” one person responded. Another chimed in, “From what Savannah acts like they are banking on Trump.”
A fourth countered the idea that Donald Trump would pardon the Chrisleys. “Why would they think Trump would pardon them? What’s in it for Trump? All the a** kissing in the world wouldn’t make it worth it to Trump,” they stated.
Will Trump Pardon Julie & Todd Chrisley?
This isn’t the first time a potential presidential pardon has been brought up in relation to Julie and Todd Chrisley. The couple was outspoken in their support for President Trump and, since their incarceration, their daughter Savannah has shown her support for the president-elect as well. She even spoke at the Republican National Convention.
Savannah has said that she had conversations with Trump about prison reform, which she has been vocal about since her parents reported for their sentences. Some people think she’s been doing what she can to butter Trump up to get her parents a pardon.
Todd Chrisley was also reportedly ecstatic to learn of Trump’s victory behind bars. “Todd is jumping for joy in prison and is so optimistic that he will be able to walk out of there when Trump takes office,” a source told The Daily Mail. “Savannah truly believes that Trump will pardon her parents. Ever since they were convicted she has spent every waking hour campaigning to free them and when she found the loophole through the RNC she jumped on it.”
During his first run at the presidency, Donald Trump granted several celebrity pardons, including a pardon for Lil Wayne and one for Kodak Black. Could he pardon the Chrisleys?
Well, yes. He could pardon Julie and Todd Chrisley if he wanted to. It seems that Trump’s focus will be on pardoning individuals charged with crimes during the January 6 protests though. The president-elect also has not indicated that he has any plans to pardon the disgraced reality stars. Only time will tell.
