To say Destiny 2 has been in a rough spot lately would be an understatement. While it has enjoyed some wins with some of the revamped systems, a few additions in The Edge of Fate, and some necessary changes coming to Renegades, the truth is that this year has been one of the bumpiest for the legendary shooter. The latest bump on the road comes from the Iron Banner reskinned armor situation, which angered a lot of Destiny 2 players. Fortunately, Bungie came to its senses and fixed it.

Destiny 2 Pulls Reskinned Armor From Store

If you’ve been out of the loop, Destiny 2 teased a “new” armor coming to the Iron Banner event, which turned out to be just a reskinned set from 2018. Naturally, players weren’t happy about this, but what really sparked the flame was a concept art that was shared.

Right after the launch of Ash & Iron, a concept artist, Ben Low, shared art of the Gladius Titan set, which, in truth, should not have been a cause of concern. However, some keen-eyed players noticed that it had Iron Banner details, leading many to believe that Bungie swapped the new Iron Banner armor to the Eververse store for Silver which costs real money and reskinned old armor as a reward for playing the latest event.

With anger rising and players complaining about the poor decision, Bungie quickly addressed the issue by removing the reskinned armor and bringing an actual new set to players. The team posted the following on its X (formerly known as Twitter) account:

We've heard your feedback on the current Iron Banner armor set as well as the overall state of unique and compelling earned rewards. We’ve heard your feedback on the current Iron Banner armor set as well as the overall state of unique and compelling earned rewards. The overall balance in paid and earned armor cosmetics is off for this season and we’re aiming to adjust our approach to earned rewards in the future.

Furthermore, the Destiny 2 team confirmed that it would remove the Ancient Majesty set from the Eververse store and make it the Iron Banner set. On top of that, it reiterated the increased Ash & Iron rewards, as well as other upcoming updates to progression via the Portal.

This was definitely a win in the eyes of many players, and some of the biggest content creators for Destiny 2 didn’t take long to talk about how this was a good call on Bungie’s side.

“This is good. The game is in a pretty rough spot, but at least we get something cool to grind for.” – Skarrow9 via X.

“As a player, I’d love the Destiny Team members to really look at the game and understand player sentiments based on the reactions to these changes and use those learnings as a means to pivot.” My Name is Byf via X.

“Bungie says they listen. It looks like they, in some capacity, are listening.” Aztecross via YouTube.

However, content creators weren’t the only ones to react. The Communications Manager of Bungie posted the following:

It sucks that we’ve been unable to build positive momentum. Too many bumps in the road and missteps.

I truly believe we are beginning to shift and head in the right direction.

Roadmap to come, and I hope it helps us to rebuild trust as we move towards Renegades and beyond.… https://t.co/qpO0YAaorW

While some think this was too little, too late, the truth is that Bungie managed to fix this just before the launch of Iron Banner, which is commendable to an extent. There are still many issues that need fixing, but this could be a sign that the developers are listening to the playerbase. However, as with any other game, we should all be careful until we see the actual changes for ourselves.
