It’s hard to believe but Genshin Impact events won’t become permanent even after several years on the market. Other HoYoverse games, meanwhile, with much less time out in the wild, such as Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, allow players to experience long-gone events. In these permanent events you can still get rewards, although not as many compared to when they’re completed before the deadline. The main complaint is with the flagship events in Genshin Impact. These events last the whole version because they involve a lot of lore. So, if you don’t complete these, you can’t see crucial parts of the story.
While the flagship events are not canon, many stories have repercussions in actual stories in Teyvat. Sometimes, it might look like the developers forgot about the story after the event ended, but that is not true. Lately, the studio has picked up some loose ends within the narrative. For example, in one of the events with Albedo in Dragonspine, Albedo has a “clone” related to his mother’s creations, Gold. We also know that Gold is a Hexenzirkel member who created Durin. Durin is also mentioned when the mini-dragon of Summertide Scales and Tales appears. In this same event in Version 4.8, we learn more about other members of the Hexenzirkel.
Besides that, some of these events work as an introduction to some characters. Players who started in later versions sometimes don’t understand how the Traveler and Paimon already know certain characters. This was the case with Fischl in Unreconciled Stars in Version 1.1, but some players didn’t meet her until much later. Scaramouche also made his first appearance in this same event, but he had a significant role until Inazuma, at least 2 years later. Many ended up shocked when Scaramouche appeared in Inazuma because the Traveler knew him.
Of course, I would like to recover Primogems that I didn’t get in time with my events. However, players could better understand the chronology if Genshin Impact makes its events permanent.
