It’s Official, a 72-Year-Old is a Much Better Gamer than You After Beating Elden Ring’s Hardest Content

I’ve given thee courtesy enough

For many gamers, Elden Ring became their first introduction to the whirlpool of suffering and satisfaction that developer FromSoftware began with Dark Souls. Now that Elden Ring is a huge part of the mainstream, it was only a matter of time before some old gamers showed the young ‘uns how it’s done. A 72-year-old gaming veteran has managed to beat Elden Ring at NG+7, which is regarded as the hardest difficulty level in the game.

For those who are unaware, NG+ in Elden Ring means New Game Plus, and each subsequent New Game Plus playthrough adds a number. Hence, the +7 means it’s the 7th New Game Plus playthrough. That means playing through the game eight times with one character.

More than the number, enemy HP, defenses, resistance, stamina, and damage are also increased incrementally with each NG+ attempt. This difficulty increment then caps at NG+7, and only a few people have the spare patience (or sanity) to attempt that.

But along came an old Redditor named u/vuduthmb who posted on Reddit recently about their achievement. User vuduthmb has claimed the title of being the oldest gamer to complete Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC on NG+7 and of course, that includes Malenia, the game’s hardest boss and also the hardest Soulsborne boss.

At 72 y/o, I'm claiming the title of oldest gamer to complete Elden Ring and Erd Tree on NG+7. Including Melania.

Someone Call Guinness World Records

Mind you, this 72-year-old Elden Lord also did it solo and of course, with no cheats since he played on the PlayStation 5, not the PC. Sure, there might’ve been older gents and ladies playing Elden Ring, but none have claimed to have beaten the game at its hardest.

As for those worried that u/vuduthmb is stressing himself too much by playing a stressful game, the old man/woman has admitted that they’re still healthy and in no need of a nursing home. In fact, here’s what the 72-year-old Elden Ring gamer said in one of the replies:

“I’m in pretty good shape. I don’t need the nursing home. My plan is to die before I go to a nursing home,” according to u/vuduthmb

That’s pretty metal, but hopefully, the 72-year-old Elden Lord won’t die soon because there’s no one good enough yet to succeed them.
