Ivanka Trump has no plans of joining her father to return to the White House. With just days away from Donald Trump‘s inauguration, the first daughter opened up about what fueled her decision to back down from politics, even when it was her father at the helm of affairs.
In a recent interview, Ivanka got candid about the horrors of being a public servant alongside her dad. “I went through years of craziness,” the 43-year-old said while explaining why she won’t reprise her role as an adviser to the president.
“Unfortunately … you know, there is a darkness to that world that I don’t really want to welcome into mine.”
Ivanka expressed her disgust for the political world, saying, “I hate politics…To some degree, I’m at the center of the storm because my father is about to be president. It’s a very dark negative. And some people love like the gladiator aspect of it, you know, the fight that, that was never me.”
While Ivanka doesn’t want to lend her political prowess to help her father, she has plans to support him in a more intimate role. “I’m most looking forward to just being able to show up for him as a daughter and be there for him,” she shared. The former senior adviser said she wants to help Donald “know that he can be with me and be himself, and just relax.”
Ivanka Trump’s Priority Is Her Kids, She Is ‘Not Willing’ To Pay The Cost
However, the dirty game of politics is not all deterring Ivanka from returning to the White House. “The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” she confessed. The Apprentice alum is a doting mother to three kids — daughter Arabella, 13; sons Joseph, 10; and Theodore, 8. — whom she shares with husband Jared Kushner.
The New York native noted that with her kids getting older, she needs to be more with them physically. Being in the White House won’t afford her that privilege, Ivanka told Skinny Confidential podcast.
“My primary goals were just to like, be the best freaking mom. Every time I had to miss something, I’m like, ‘I will never let this happen again in the minute I leave the White House.”
During Donald Trump’s first term, Ivanka, alongside her husband Kushner, served as unpaid White House adviser. She was also the director of the Office of Economic Initiatives and Entrepreneurship.
