Hollywood film legend Jack Nicholson made his first public appearance in two years during SNL’s 50th Anniversary Special. The 87-year-old icon surprised his fans with a brief cameo from the audience during a show of support for his longtime pal and Anger Management co-star Adam Sandler. Viewers were impressed by SNL’s 50th Anniversary Special celebrity guest list. Many Hollywood A-listers made the exclusive guest list, which includes Robert DeNiro, Kevin Costner, Cher, Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Paul McCartney, to name only a few.
However, one living legend in particular wowed viewers with his rare appearance.
The once-socially active star of Stephen King’s The Shining, Jack Nicholson, lives a quiet life these days. At 87, the actor prefers to keep a low profile behind the walls of his $5 million mansion in Beverly Hills.
Once a regular courtside staple at the Lakers NBA games, Jack Nicholson struggles with his health more often than not. Jack’s most recent public appearance was back in May 2023. These days, he spends most of his time with his family.
According to previous Closer Magazine reports, sources close to the Nicholson family stated, “Jack has been slowing down a lot in recent years and has become somewhat of a recluse.”
Fans Thrilled To See Jack Nicholson During Brief SNL Cameo
Though Jack has yet to officially retire from acting, he hasn’t appeared in a film in nearly 15 years. Many of his fans would love to see the actor return to the stage.
Since Jack Nicholson now spends most of his time at home with his children, his fans were excited to see the star briefly on camera for the SNL special. Jack Nicholson only spoke five words from his seat in the audience as he announced his close friend, Adam Sandler.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Sandler,” Nicholson, 87, said as the audience applauded.
Adam Sandler was as equally thrilled to see Jack Nicholson in the audience. He eagerly gave the legend an appreciative shoutout before performing his personally written original ode to the sketch comedy and its 50 years on-air. “Yeah, baby! Let’s hear it for Jack, baby! Jack made it out tonight! Love you, brother,” Sandler, 58, exclaimed.
“He looks great. I love that he introduced AS from his seat. That was very cool,” gushed one excited fan.
“That’s our Jack. Brilliant actor and noted scoundrel. LOVE him,” adds another. “Omg. He’s 87. Where has the time gone? I’m hoping Jack sees 100+,” writes one more.
Nicholson opted to skip the SNL after-party. According to the Daily Mail, the actor was seen arriving at his hotel with assistance, holding a cane for support. Many longtime fans were shocked to discover that Jack Nicholson never hosted SNL. However, the actor made one other SNL appearance for the 40th Anniversary Special 2015.
Jack Nicholson’s public appearances are few and far between these days. For those who like to keep up to date on the actor. Jack’s family often updates fans on social media, posting photos and brief messages.
