James Gunn took to Twitter to confirm that he hired a Superman: Legacy casting director for the highly anticipated project, which will hit theatres in 2025. Gunn responded “Yes” to a fan asking if he had hired a casting director for the film; however, he did not mention who it was.
Despite Henry Cavill’s cameo in Black Adam, his tenure as Superman has ended, and now Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Studios are organizing a Superman reboot. Gunn debunked a rumor last month that there had been a casting call for Superman, specifically for actors in their 20s-30s.
Gunn will be the writer and director for the Man of Steel’s upcoming reboot. The film will prioritize significant parts of Superman’s background and history. According to the film’s synopsis, Clark Kent will face his Kryptonian Heritage and his Kansas background on Earth.
The movie’s official synopsis reads, “It follows Superman as he reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way in a world that views kindness as old-fashioned.” One of the main things with Superman: Legacy will is what villains or villains will appear in the film.
Superman: Legacy Casting Director
According to an insider, Heroic Hollywood reported that the new Superman: Legacy casting director is John Papsidera. Papsidera and Gunn collaborated for 2021’s Suicide Squad and cast the hits Yellowstone and Peacemaker HBO Max series.
Papsidera has quite the resume, being nominated 16 times for the Artios Awards for excellence in casting and winning four times. He also has vast credits with big films like The Dark Knight, Inception, Oppenheimer, Jurassic World, Interstellar, Memento, Final Destination, and Zombieland. Superman: Legacy was official in January during the DC Studios slate reveal.
In speaking with The Rolling Stone, Gunn said that his “Superman” film isn’t like “Guardians.” He said, “I learned so much from making these movies. But it’s not like Superman is going to have exactly the same vibe as a Guardians movie. It’s actually quite different.”
After Gunn finishes doing press for Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3, which almost has a three-hour runtime, he will begin his full-time transition in his new role as co-head of DC Studios. Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theatres on July 11, 2025.
