Monster Hunter Wilds’ extensive custom character creator menu has taken customization to the next level. During the open beta period, Japanese players quickly transformed the game’s character creator into a virtual tribute showcase. Fans have spent a lot of time on the menu and crafted eerily similar pop culture icons for their avatars. From Hollywood stars and iconic comic book characters to out-of-this-world anime heroes.
“I was thinking of making a Jason Statham or Nicolas Cage. [But] I started [doing] Die Hard. John McClaneeee!” wrote @pon_pokke.
Then, from @FF14_Wedding, is the chaotic duo of DC universe. “#MonhunWilds Character Maker, Harley Quinn & Joker,” they wrote.
But that’s not all. The robust customization options can even bring zanier characters from other games and franchises into Monster Hunter Wilds.
“A regular hunter who assumes himself to be Ito Kaiji,” @PoTeto_401 proves that Monster Hunter Wilds‘ custom avatar creator can even let you conjure up even the most cartoonish anime character.
“He looks similar, right. I feel really happy about it,” as @Rulia_Hermitaur showcases their uncanny Suguru Geto.
Up next, @mk_yati made Toriko from the Toriko action series. “For now, I think I’ll go with Toriko, one of the ‘Four Gourmet Kings.’ With gratitude for all the cooking ingredients in this world… let’s eat!”
“My wife’s skill is amazing!” as @Zean_Sukurood refers to how his partner managed to recreate Kazuma Kiryu in the game.
But where’s there’s Kiryu, there’s Majima. “Goro Majima that comes to Wilds world,” wrote @Jei_games. Maybe he had enough playing pirates in Hawaii for today.
@yamamori_basil can also perfectly recreate the flamboyant but dangerous clown from Hunter x Hunter. “Hisoka I made in today’s stream,” they wrote.
But Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t give deep character customization only for the Hunters. On the Palico side, things get delightfully weird. @apepe has cooked up adorable creatures from the Pokemon world, Pikachu and Spirigatito.
“I was having so much fun making long-haired cats that I spent the whole time on the Palico editing screen (I only did the tutorial in the main game),” they wrote. “I’d love to see a game with Palico as the main character made with this engine. One with Palamute in it too.”
Then,@MARO134R shows off a member of their hunting ‘family,’ a Stitch Palico, who’s every bit as chaotic as his animated counterpart.
While Monster Hunter World allowed for detailed character creation, its successor has definitely upped the ante. Monster Hunter Wilds’ custom character creator sandbox offers endless possibilities for players who want to bring their favorite characters to life. Best of all, you can transfer your beta character to the main game once it launches on February 28, 2025. You’ll get a bonus Palico Pendant for your weapons too if you play the beta.
