Jay Leno has canceled a conference appearance after being injured in a car fire, TMZ has reported. Initially, it was reported about the axed appearance without knowledge about the injuries he sustained, which included burns to the left side of his face, without damaging his ear or eye.

The incident happened yesterday, November 13, as Jay Leno was in his Los Angeles garage, where the car fire injured him. He has quite an eclectic collection of cars, and as he was in there, one of the cars combusted, which led to his burns. He was transported to Grossman Burn Center to be treated. No information is known about his condition outside of being admitted due to the severity of the burns. No cause as to why the car combusted is known either.

The ex-Tonight Show host was set to appear at The Financial Brand conference in Las Vegas on the day of the accident. Attendees received an email informing them of the cancelation due to “a very serious medical emergency.” At the time, his family, who notified the coordinators of the event, did not give details about that medical emergency until the TMZ report shed light on what happened.

In recent years, Jay Leno has had other health issues on top of the burns from the car fire. He has issues with high cholesterol, which prompted him to speak up about check-ups and encourage people to be mindful of their health. He had an EKG device to monitor his heart rate and has stayed away from drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes to maintain a healthier lifestyle.

The comedian is currently recovering from his injuries. Everything on his schedule this week had been cleared, with no plans to reschedule at the moment.
