Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez continue to make headlines even if they’re no longer together. This week, their former wedding planner, Marcy Blum, appeared on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast to discuss the pair’s nuptials before they eventually called it quits. As it turns out, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s wedding almost featured Bruno Mars. However, the Atlas star hesitated once she saw Mars’ “ridiculous” performance fee.
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s Wedding Planner Spills the Tea About Their Reception
During the podcast, celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum explained she was allowed to discuss Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s wedding since she “never signed an NDA” for the former couple. “We were working with J.Lo and A-Rod before they broke up,” she said.
Blum revealed she and Lopez were once going over potential entertainment for her wedding reception when Mars’ name came up. She had just worked with the “24K Magic” singer, so Blum knew at the top of her head that he would cost $5 million to book. Hearing that number shocked Lopez. “Don’t be ridiculous!” the popstar said, according to Blum.
Apparently, that cost wouldn’t even cover the whole night. Blum said Bruno Mars’ $5 million performance fee would only get you 45 minutes to an hour with him.
A Broken Engagement
It’s unclear if Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez eventually caved and booked Mars for their wedding because they never actually made it down the aisle. After getting engaged in March 2019, the pair was supposed to wed in June 2020. However, due to the pandemic, they were forced to postpone the ceremony. They later canceled it altogether when they ended their engagement in March 2021.
Although they tried to work things out, the stars officially announced their split that April via a joint statement. “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” the pair wrote, adding that they’ll continue to “work together and support each other” despite their breakup. Besides that, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez explained they wouldn’t be elaborating further “out of respect” for their children. “The only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support,” they said.
The following year, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck married in July 2022. The couple was together for two years before Lopez filed for divorce from the actor in August 2024.
