Jesse Metcalfe has a stacked resume, appearing in films like God’s Not Dead and Destined. However, the one fans remember him for most is John Tucker Must Die. In the 2006 teen classic, Metcalfe played a four-timing cheater who was exposed by his girlfriends. The film also starred other big-name stars, including Brittany Snow and Ashanti.
Since the movie’s release, fans have wondered if a sequel would ever happen. In March 2024, Arielle Kebbel confirmed that a second movie was on the way, but it’s been quiet since. Now, Jesse is hoping to get some answers.
Jesse Metcalfe Is Ready for John Tucker’s Redemption Arc
In an interview with Us Weekly, Jesse said he “recently inquired” about the status of John Tucker’s second film. “People are still talking about it. I’d love to help push it forward, but I don’t really know how to do that.”
After the film’s initial release, it earned $68 million at the box office and received a score of 28% on Rotten Tomatoes. According to Jesse, “it’s always nice to hear that people love the movie, especially considering that it was critically panned when it came out.”
“People really seem to love a movie that has a pretty low Rotten Tomato score, I guess.”
Until the 45-year-old hears news about the status of a potential second movie, the actor has the first movie and his co-stars to reminisce about.
“I really liked all of the ladies that I worked with,” he said. “I thought they were all great and unique in their own ways,” he continued. “The one common denominator for all of them is that they’re all very intelligent.”
On the other hand, Metcalfe isn’t the only actor interested in checking out a second script. Penn Badgley, from the Netflix series You, had a small role in the first movie. On his podcast, Podcrushed, he discussed the possibility of returning for a sequel. “I can’t actually say with certainty,” he said. “I’ve got the smallest role in the movie; I don’t know if I would belong in it anyway. Never have I even thought of that as a potential thing, but I guess if there was a script, I would read it.”
