Jessica Alba and Cash Warren are heading for divorce after 16 years of marriage, which by the looks have been a long time coming. The actress tied the knot with her producer spouse in May 2008, after meeting on the set of the 2004 film, Fantastic Four, where Cash served as the director’s assistant. Jessica, who played Invisible Woman Sue Storm in the movie went on to have three kids with him, including daughters Honor and Haven and son Hayes. On January 8, News of the couple’s impending divorce hit the tabloids, crushing the ideals of the perfect couple they once depicted.
Weeks after the divorce news, sources revealed the underlying story behind the breakup decision and how Jessica Alba felt about cutting ties with Cash Warren. Speaking to Radar Online, one insider disclosed that the actress and her husband had long lost the spark in their marriage. However, Jessica opted to remain in the relationship these past years for the sake of their children. After enduring a loveless marriage for years, the 43-year-old now realized remaining in a marriage that left her perpetually unhappy was a disservice to herself and her three kids. Hence, her decision to walk away. The source explained,
“[Jessica] believes she’s too young to give up on having a real romance in her life.”
Jessica Alba Looking to Avoid Further Drama After Divorce
For Jessica, paving the way for new romance may come at a cost. The insider revealed Jessica Alba may have to give Cash Warren a fraction of her fortune, possibly up to $2 million annually in alimony after the divorce. Per the insider, Cash may cite his contributions to her mega business enterprise, which she established during their 16-year marriage. However, the alimony is fair if it guarantees her future happiness. Her only regret is not walking away sooner. The insider divulged,
“Jessica feels that’s a small price to pay to not put their children through some nasty divorce battle and also to be free to find the true love of her life. This is a move she wished she had made years ago.”
Before their divorce filing, Jessica Alba had hinted at her and Cash’s slowly deteriorating marriage. The actress, who made the big shift to her entrepreneurial role after founding her billion-dollar company, The Honest Company, in 2012, revealed last April that she and her husband had become more like roommates. She admitted to podcaster Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt that after the initial flames, they’d settled into a routine and no longer had date nights or other activities that fueled the romance in relationships.
Later that year, Jessica also shared a cryptic Instagram post that hinted at her decision to walk away from anything that messes with her peace, writing,
“My mantra for 2025: If it messes with my peace, it’s too damn pricey… if it makes me question my worth, it’s getting left in 2024. I’m entering 2025 focused and fully in my power.”
The news of their divorce broke barely days later, confirming her husband as one of the baggage she hoped to leave behind in 2024. With three children connecting them, though, the divorce would be no clean cut for Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, whose marriage until now has been devoid of scandal.
