After months of staying quiet, Jessica Simpson is spilling all the tea about her breakup with her husband, Eric Johnson. After ten years of marriage, the couple is going their separate ways. As Simpson navigates this new era with a comeback to music, her highly anticipated first single tells the truth of what went down.
Ahead of the release of Use My Heart Against Me from her upcoming EP Nashville Canyon: Part 1, Simpson spoke about how new music helped her find closure. “I’ve grown up so much. I can handle so much,” she confessed. “Maybe I’m just meant to love a lot of people in my life.” However, while reflecting on how far she has come, the fashion designer hinted at being hurt in her marriage.
“I don’t know why my heart gets tossed around but I’m one of the lucky ones.”
Nonetheless, Simpson feels nothing but gratitude for the life built with the former NFL player. “At least I have my children, and I still have Eric. He’s still very much a part of my life and will always be,” she reflected. The 44-year-old revealed to People Magazine that they continue co-parenting their three kids, Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. They all still spend time at their rental home in Franklin, Tenn., outside Nashville, where Simpson worked on her music.
Jessica Simpson Ready To ‘Have Freedom’: ‘I Can Do What I Want’

The Dukes of Hazzard alum further credited music for saving her amid her broken marriage.
“Discovering this music is something I did on my own. Thank God I had Nashville, it was just a way of me owning myself and declaring it.
She added, “I am a woman now, and I can do what I want and to have freedom in music — I think that’s what you’re going to feel in Nashville Canyon.”
Simpson confirmed there was trouble in her marital paradise for the first time in January. In a statement, she revealed that she and Johnson have been separated for a while. “Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she confessed. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them.”
Despite the announcement, neither Simpson nor Johnson have filed for divorce. That could mean there is hope for reconciliation. However, sources say the Irresistible singer is taking the split in great strides and “doing better each day.” She is reportedly searching for a new home in Los Angeles to kickstart her new chapter.
Currently, there is no chatter of a new man in Jessica Simpson’s life. Her priority remains her revenge album against Johnson, as confirmed by insiders. The project is said to be emotional and will tell her side of the story. From the looks of things, Johnson might not survive it.
