Jhene Aiko is one of the many California residents who have lost their homes due to the LA wildfires. In case you’ve missed it, California has been under a state of emergency since earlier this week when fires broke out in LA county. The Pacific Palisades fire was first reported on Tuesday, January 7, at around 10 AM. Since then, the fire has grown to 17,234 acres with zero containment. A second fire began Tuesday night, burning nearly 11,000 acres as of Wednesday morning.
According to officials, there have been “a number of significant injuries” to those residents who did not evacuate, leaving five dead. Residents have spoken out about their devastating losses, from childhood homes to family pets. However, some people have had as much compassion for them due to their ignorant belief that all Californians are rich. Singer Jhene Aiko isn’t here for that, though, and she’s making sure that’s known.
Aiko Wants People To Know That She’s Rich With Love
In an emotional post on Instagram, Jhene Aiko shared that she and her children lost their family home. “Me and my children’s home is gone,” she wrote. The mother of two continued, saying they lost everything. However, she was grateful they had each other. “Starting from scratch,” she said before saying her “heart is so heavy.” After her post was shared on Instagram, a fan seemingly dismissed her feelings, saying she’d be “fine” because she is “wealthy.” But when she got a peep at what the public was saying, she clapped back to set the record straight.
“The fact that some of you think I have Paris Hilton money is wild,” she wrote. “I don’t got it like that,” she continued before crediting her family for always holding her down. Fans defended her in the comments, saying losing your home is “devastating” no matter how rich you are. “Money can’t buy everything.”
What Other Stars Have Lost Their Homes in the LA Wildfires
Unfortunately, Jhene Aiko isn’t the only celebrity who has posted about losing their home to the unprecedented Los Angeles County fires. On January 8th, 2025, Spencer and Heidi Pratt from MTV’s The Hills shared emotional clips about their house being burned down. “Nightmare came true,” the OG reality star shared on TikTok. Cameron Mathison from General Hospital also posted a moving clip of what remained of his home. “We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday,” he said.
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester lost the home she shared with her partner, Adam Brody. Tina Knowles posted a video on Instagram, saying she lost her “tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu.” Paris Hilton also spoke out about losing her property to the California fires. “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience,” she wrote. “This home was where we built so many precious memories.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Bozoma Saint John shared a lengthy post online, saying she lost the home she “prayed” and “worked in blood, sweat, and tears for.” She finished by calling the loss “unimaginable” before asking for positive thoughts for herself and her child.
