Joe Budden is defending himself amid accusations he’s downplaying the latest news surrounding Diddy. On Friday, CNN released surveillance footage from a 2016 hotel altercation where Diddy was abusive toward singer and then-girlfriend Cassie. The two settled a lawsuit regarding allegations of abuse in their relationship earlier this year.
The Hip Hop Podcaster Edited Out His Diddy Segment Addressing The Video
Joe Budden did suggest to listeners that he would be discussing the Diddy and Cassie video on Friday’s episode of “The Joe Budden Podcast,” including it in the episode description. However, listeners would discover that the segment was edited out of the finished product.
Fans immediately took to social media to question the decision. Some went as far as to insinuate that the podcaster was somehow taking orders from Diddy not to discuss the matter.
Budden Offered His Explanation For The Cut
In a Twitter Spaces session Saturday, Joe Budden explained himself. He confirmed that he did record a conversation about the Diddy and Cassie situation but ultimately decided the conversation didn’t have the scope the subject deserves. He went on to say he would discuss it on Wednesday’s episode.
I have zero ties with Diddy… Yesterday was my first time seeing something like that and it was tough to watch… I’m not down with none of that.

Despite his explanation, people feel it was the wrong move. Those who aren’t fans of the podcaster have pointed to a number of reasons why he may have edited out the segment.
For one, he has previously been connected to Diddy and counted him among the podcast’s listeners. They also note he was hesitant to speak about some of the happenings earlier in the year and was called out for that to a lesser degree. When news of the allegations and lawsuit went public, Budden was also skeptical of Cassie’s accusations. This led some to point out that Budden himself has been accused of abusive behavior by previous partners.
