On Saturday, May 24, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got fans talking by interacting on social media. It all started when the Game of Thrones actress showed support for her ex-husband’s new album, Music for People Who Believe in Love. The record, which marks the pop star’s first solo album in 14 years, dropped on Friday, May 23. It seems Turner gave it a listen and was a fan. She encouraged her followers to check out the release by sharing a Spotify link to the project on her Instagram Story. Turner also proved she’s still Jonas’s biggest cheerleader by writing, “Go go @joejonas.”
Just two hours after receiving the shoutout, Jonas shared Turner’s post on his Instagram Story. He also showed his ex-wife some love by replying with an emoji of a pair of hands doing a heart symbol.
Fans celebrated the fact that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner appear to be on friendly terms again. “Love love love seeing Sophie supporting Joe,” one person wrote. “I think it’s a beautiful thing to see Joe and Sophie interact on IG stories like this,” another fan said, adding, “It shows respect and civility.” For some fans, it also brought back memories of the time the two were still a couple. “It makes me want them to get back together,” read another comment.
Where Did It All Go Wrong?
The sweet interaction comes nearly a decade after Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s love story first began. The stars are said to have started dating in October 2016 after meeting through mutual friends. They initially kept their relationship low-key before going public in January 2017. That October, they announced they were engaged. Jonas and Turner then married in Las Vegas in May 2019 before hosting another wedding ceremony in France in June.
In July 2020, they became a family of three with the arrival of their first daughter, Willa. They then welcomed their second daughter, Delphine, in July 2022.
After they had become parents again, fans thought things were going smoothly for the couple. However, that all changed in September 2023 when the singer filed for divorce. The news sparked rumors that cheating was involved or that the pair had fought over their kids. Jonas and Turner responded to the speculation by releasing a joint statement on Instagram shutting down the “speculative narratives” about their divorce. They claimed their breakup was a mutual decision and asked everyone to respect their privacy “for us and our children.”
Getting the Court Involved
Despite this, fans continued to question the reason behind Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s sudden split. The gossip only became more rampant after news broke that September that the Dark Phoenix star was suing her estranged husband. According to People, Turner filed the lawsuit against Jonas after he allegedly “wrongfully retained” their children from her. In response, Turner requested their daughters be returned to England. A representative for Jonas called the situation an “unfortunate legal disagreement.”
Luckily, it seems the pair were able to get things resolved on their own because Turner filed to dismiss her claims against Jonas just months later. Following their legal drama, the former couple officially settled their divorce in September 2024.
Now, nearly a year since then, the two are showing fans things are okay between them again with their latest interaction on Instagram.
