Two of Hollywood’s favorite musclemen are teaming up as Jason Momoa, and John Cena joins the cast of Killer Vacation, an action-comedy in production by Warner Bros. Studios. The film will be the second collaboration between John Cena and Jason Momoa, who recently met on the set of Fast X, the conclusion to the Fast & Furious franchise.
Not much is currently known about the plot of Killer Vacation since Warner Bros. still has it in development, but Variety describes the upcoming film as a “rowdy new action comedy” that’s comparable to True Lies, a 1994 action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Harry Tasker, a computer salesman leading a secret double life as a secret agent for Omega Sector, a U.S. Counterterrorism Unit. Jamie Lee Curtis also stars as Helen Tasker, Harry’s wife, with Tom Arnold as Albert “Gib” Gibson, a fellow Omega Sector Agent.
According to Deadline, Killer Vacation was written by Mark and Brian Gunn, who previously collaborated on Brightburn (2019). John Rickard (X-Men: The Last Stand, Midnight Sun) and Peter Safran (The Suicide Squad, Aquaman) will reportedly act as producers for the film.
Who Are Jason Momoa and John Cena?
Jason Momoa has previously worked with Warner Bros. Studios on Aquaman (2018) and its upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which is scheduled for release on Christmas of this year. Some of Momoa’s other roles include Duncan Idaho in Dune (2021), the voice of Aquaman in The Simpsons (2019) and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, as well as Khal Drago in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones between 2011 and 2012.
John Cena, aside from being made famous for an internet meme, has an obvious career in professional wrestling, but some of his forays into TV and film include roles as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, in Peacemaker (2022) and The Suicide Squad (2019). He also appeared as Ron in Vacation Friends (2021), Jakob in F9: The Fast Saga (2021), and has also made several appearances as himself on WWE Raw (2004), and WWE Smackdown! (2001), and WWE 2K22 (2022).
