John Cena may be one of the busiest men in the entertainment industry right now. In just the last year, Cena has appeared in a number of major projects, including F9, The Suicide Squad, and its spinoff, Peacemaker. However, he is showing no signs of slowing down. According to an exclusive from Deadline, John Cena is set to star in an upcoming action comedy movie called Officer Exchange for Amazon Studios.
The Details on John Cena and Officer Exchange
Officer Exchange is currently in development with a script that has been written by Ben Zazove and Evan Turner. Previous credits for this writing duo include the upcoming Netflix comedy, The Out-Law, and the animated Paramount feature Sherlock Gnomes. If Officer Exchange continues as expected, it will reportedly feature John Cena as a “wrecking ball of a cop” who will team up with an Indian police officer in order to take down a group of diamond smugglers in India.
Producers on Officer Exchange will include executive producer Peter Safran and producer John Rickard of The Safran Company. Safran and Rickard previously produced John Cena’s HBO Max series, Peacemaker. However, they will not be the sole producers on this new project for Amazon Studios. Cena will also serve as an executive producer.
John Cena’s career in entertainment began in 1999 when he became a professional wrestler for Ultimate Pro Wrestling. However, Cena joined WWE just a few years later, where he became a household name. Like other wrestlers, he eventually made his way into movies. In the last few years, Cena has starred in a number of successful projects like Blockers, Bumblebee, the Daddy’s Home movies, Ferdinand, F9, The Suicide Squad, and Peacemaker.
