Steve Carell has made quite the career for himself over the years. One of, if not the most important, stepping stones for Steve was the American version of The Office. However, now, with NBC’s high-stakes reboot of the beloved comedy in the works, some of the cast from the U.S. version have their concerns. John Krasinski, who is well known for his role as Jim Halpert, has also come forward with concerns regarding the new TV series.
According to Radar Online, a number of former “Office” alums seem to be a little less than satisfied with the amount of information they are receiving about the upcoming series. Names such as John Krasinski, Steve Carell, and even Jenna Fisher have led the charge. The source continues by saying that some of the original cast from the American version are very unhappy about the amount of “involvement.” They also allegedly want the show to “fall flat on its face.” It seems very clear that this group will not back down. The insider also stated, “They have turned their backs on the idea.”
Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Others Upset Over the Office Reboot
The Office’s official reboot will be following a group of people who will attempt to revive an old mid-western newspaper company. It has been confirmed that the camera crew following the newspaper company’s employees is, in fact, the same documentary crew from The Office U.S. However, there will be an entirely new cast of characters. Some names to watch for are Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young. There have also been rumors of guest appearances from previous characters. Although, nothing has been confirmed just yet. Gregg Daniels, who created the original NBC Office and the American reboot, will be involved as well.
After the show, Steve Carell and John Krasinski used The Office to boost their acting careers. However, Jenna Fisher has opted for an alternative route. Jenna currently co-hosts a podcast with another former Office alum, Angela Kinsey. Fisher and Kinsey both played major roles in the American version of the comedy. The Podcast titled Office Ladies goes over the episodes of the series and breaks them down for fans.
While the original cast seems upset with the lack of input, it may be that they don’t want the show to happen at all. The Office still does great numbers on streaming services and has a large and dedicated community. Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fisher all have valid complaints. However, Giving the new series a chance may be the best route.
