An allegation that Johnny Depp was involved in a verbal assault on the set of Blow sparked controversy online. In a video that surfaced recently, the actor’s co-star, Lola Glaudini, claimed Depp berated her while they were filming the 2001 crime drama. According to the star, the incident came back to mind during Johnny Depp’s publicized defamation trial. However, the actor isn’t letting any other allegation ruin his reputation, as he pushed back on the verbal abuse claims.
Lola Glaudini Accuses Johnny Depp of Verbal Assault
As if the tumultuous courtroom battle with Amber Heard wasn’t enough, Johnny Depp has found himself at the center of another controversy. This time, Criminal Minds star Lola Glaudini accused Johnny Depp of verbal assault. The actress made her claims during a January appearance on the Powerful Truth Angel podcast, which resurfaced recently. In the video, Glaudini recalled getting reamed by Depp on her first day on the set of Blow. She explained that Director Ted Demme had told her to “burst out laughing” while Depp delivered a monologue. However, it appeared Demme didn’t inform Depp about it, leading to the alleged aggressive treatment.
“Johnny Depp, when they say cut, walks over to me, comes up to me sticks his finger in my face … and he goes, ‘Who the f**k do you think you are? Who the f**k do you think you are? Shut the f**k up,'” Glaudini said.
She claimed that the actor further yelled at her, saying:
“I’m out here, and I’m trying to f**king say my lines and you’re f***ing pulling focus. You f***ing idiot. Oh, now it’s not so funny? Now you can f***ing shut the f**k up? The quiet that you are right now, that’s how you f**king stay.”
Glaudini revealed it was her first studio movie; she had never met Depp before then. According to her, she idolized the actor, and his actions almost made her cry. However, Glaudini said Depp gave her a “non-apology apology” later, and she acted like nothing happened.
Johnny Depp Responds to the Verbal Assault Claims
A few days after the video resurfaced, Depp broke his silence, making sure to clear his name. In a statement, the actor’s representative noted that the claims were false. According to them, Glaudini’s recount of the incident was totally different from how others remembered it.
“Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time,” the rep said.
Moreover, Depp’s rep revealed that Sam Sakar, a sound technician from Blow, can attest to Depp’s version of the incident. After a testing defamation trial, it is good that Johnny Depp sought ways to clear his name, as the last thing he would want is more public scrutiny about his behavior toward women.
