Jackass Forever was a long-awaited film that became a huge hit for the series of stunt and prank-filled brand. In an interview with Variety, Johnny Knoxville spoke about the future of Jackass, both for him and the older guys, along with the younger cast that got brought on for the fourth film.
Many had thought of Jackass Forever as the finale, but not for Johnny Knoxville. He clarified that it “got written somewhere,” and the world “ran with it.” He is not making a definitive statement that more will come, but it could. If it did, then the casting would be altered to fit the older crew, like himself, and open the door for newcomers.
“If we did continue, we would lean on the younger cast more and the old guys would take a little step back but still be a part of it. I would have to step back because my neurologist said I can’t have any more concussions.”
Johnny Knoxville would step back for the future of Jackass
There is something to Jackass that Johnny Knoxville sees that has brought it to success. The earlier films were poorly received by critics, but now people who grew up watching him and the gang pull off stunts and pranks are now working at entertainment outlets where they can write a review on a film like Forever. To him, it is also because it is “honest” as the “pranks are real. The pain is real. The love amongst the guys is real.”
The third film was released in 2010, with the latest being in 2022. The long wait for a new Jackass felt inevitable, which brought the old crew like Johnny Knoxville, David England, Steve-O, Preston Lacy, and Jason “Wee Man” Acuña. Newcomers brought along for the ride included Eric Manaka, Jasper Dolphin, and Rachel Wolfson. The long wait and mix of new and old faces brought in $80 million at the box office when the film had a $10 million budget.
If you missed on Forever, it is currently available to be streamed on services like Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+.
