DC is putting the Clown Prince of Crime center stage with the upcoming Joker: The World anthology. This 184-page hardcover offering brings a bunch of stories from international creators starring everyone’s favorite clown villain. It features Joker-focused stories from the likes of Geoff Johns, Satoshi Miyagawa, David Rubin, German Peralta, and more. This comes after DC released a similar anthology for Batman back in 2021. It is expected to hit shelves on September 17th.
Joker: The World
Joker: The World is taking the Clown Prince out of Gotham and across international waters. It shows off what the Joker gets up to while on a holiday in Spain. Plus, the anthology shows how other criminals and villains are inspired by Batman’s nemesis. One way is to create some Joker duplicates to wreak havoc throughout Germany and Turkey. Then, there is the Joker traveling through Cameroon. How can he find inspiration in a place so far away from the crime and fighting of Gotham?
Not only is Joker: The World a must-have for any fan of the villain, but it shows how far this character’s inspiration goes. Each story shows off different cultural identities, tones, and styles. It features creative teams that represent 13 different countries and their take on a Joker adventure. This shows how influential the supervillain is and how he has inspired chaos in so many places.
Big Year For The Joker
The Joker: The World announcement comes a few months before the Clown Prince of Crime returns to the silver screen. In October, the sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller Joker will release. Officially titled Joker: Folie a Deux, the musical film stars Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character, with Lady Gaga set to play Harley Quinn.
Joker: The World releases 09/17.
