Jon Gosselin continues to be a supportive father to his son Collin amid the Kate Gosselin abuse scandal. Collin is one of the sextuplets born to the former couple, who also have twin daughters. The family gained stardom with their reality TV series Jon & Kate Plus 8. In 2009, the couple divorced, and since then they’ve stayed in the news by revealing family drama.
While Kate has tried to maintain her fame, the mom of eight’s reputation has been marred by criticisms over her parenting skills. As seen on the show, she often lost her temper and yelled at her kids. But according to Collin, her punishment towards him took a physical turn.
During a recent interview with The Sun, the 20-year-old alleged that his mother would lock him in a basement away from his siblings. She even zip-tied his hands and feet together and left him alone in the dark.
Collin received a lot of support for coming forward with his story. Nobody is more prouder than his dad. Recently, TMZ interviewed Jon to ask about Collin.
He’s doing really well. He’s just moving forward past everything that happened to him. You know, the Marines and all that stuff. He decided to go to college. He’s a freshman at Penn State and he’s doing really well.
Jon says he’s proud of Collin for sharing his story and believes it was therapeutic. “It was like closure for him, I believe.”
Jon Gosselin Doesn’t Expect a Reconciliation Between Collin and Kate Gosselin
As a child, Collin attempted to alert his teachers to the abuse at home. When Kate got wind of it, she had Collin committed to an institution in 2016, claiming he had “violent behavior.” In 2018, Jon was granted custody of Collin, who moved in with his dad and sister Hannah upon his release.
Collin hasn’t had any contact with his mother for eight years. As for whether mother and son will talk about the abuse allegations, Jon says don’t count on it. “No, I don’t think so,” he told TMZ. “If I had to predict, I don’t think that will ever happen. Just because there’s so much animosity.”
While Collin’s relationship with his mom Kate Gosselin is shattered, he’ll always have his dad Jon Gossel’s love and support.
