Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good have taken their relationship to the next level, but some fans are still suspicious. The famous couple did not have the best start, as their relationship blossomed amid the actor’s legal drama. Despite their apparent love for each other, many see it as a publicity stunt. The mixed reactions to Majors and Good’s romance skyrocketed after the duo announced their engagement on Sunday, November 17. The Divorce In Black actress flashed the stunning gem on her left finger at the EBONY Power 100 Gala.
While strutting down the red carpet, the couple disclosed why they chose to reveal their engagement at the event. Good shared that she and Majors met at the gala’s “unisex bathrooms” two years ago. Despite their memorable encounter, the pair’s relationship did not turn romantic until 2023. Majors started dating Good in May 2023, two months after he was arrested over an alleged domestic violence incident. His ex-girlfriend accused him of assault, leading to a tumultuous case that ended in his loss, per E! News.
Some X users haven’t forgotten about the legal drama and suspected the Creed III star was using Good. “Trying to redeem himself. PR move. He’s not gonna actually marry her,” someone claimed. A second conspiracy theorist echoed similar sentiments, arguing that the engagement was Majors’ way of reviving his career. A third believed the legal drama had motivated Majors to get married. Meanwhile, a fourth joked about his black card, wondering if the engagement signaled its return. Not everyone was a troll, as one X user celebrated the news, writing:
“Two incredible people coming together! Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are such a beautiful match. Can’t wait to see them shine even brighter together.”
Another supporter told critics to stop seeing Majors and Good’s romance as a PR relationship. “Marriage is a big deal… even if it’s Hollywood,” the X user stressed. The couple’s new relationship status comes months after the actor addressed his removal from the MCU.
Jonathan Majors Hopes To Return to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as Kang
Before his domestic violence drama, Majors had made a name for himself in the MCU as Kang the Conqueror. The character first appeared in the Disney+ series Loki, then in the 2023 movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Majors’ fantastic portrayal of the complex character earned him another slot in the MCU. He was set to star in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but his legal case ruined that opportunity. Marvel kicked him out of the villain role and replaced him with Robert Downey Jr.’s Dr Doom.
We covered Majors’ reaction to his replacement, noting that he was “heartbroken” but happy for Downey Jr. He claimed it was amazing that the actor received a second chance despite his legal troubles. Downey Jr. landed the role of Iron Man in the MCU despite his infamous 1996 arrest. He was taken into custody for possessing heroin, cocaine, and an unloaded gun. Majors hoped Marvel would extend the same forgiveness to him, saying:
“I love Kang. If that’s what the fans want, and that’s what Marvel wants, then let’s roll. Hell yeah.”
While Jonathan Majors’ future as Kang is uncertain, he can focus on building a new life with Meagan Good.
