Josh Duggar‘s famous last name is opening doors for him even behind bars. The disgraced reality star, who was convicted on child pornography charges, has been serving his 151-month prison sentence at FCI Seagoville since December 2021. With his release date still more than a decade away, Duggar has found a way to get a taste of freedom while in prison.
In a new update, Duggar has moved into a new luxurious prison dorm. The newly renovated dorm has upgraded amenities that set its inhabitants apart from other inmates. “They finished painting the walls and getting flowers put into Dorm 6, where Josh lives. It’s been turned into an honors dorm,” an insider prison source revealed to The Sun.
“They get special privileges and building updates because it’s an honors dorm. There are washers and dryers, microwaves, and more. They’re trying to create a dorm of model inmates.”
Per sources, there are certain criteria an inmate must meet to be eligible for living in Dorm 6. They “can’t have any disciplinary actions in a certain amount of time, have to have a job and must sign a code of conduct agreement,” the informant explained.
Josh Duggar’s Living Celebrity Life Behind Bars
However, Josh Duggar doesn’t meet all the conditions. The 19 Kids and Counting alum reportedly doesn’t have a job. He is, however, getting a degree that was used to exempt him.
“According to the rules, he would be disqualified from living there because of his SHU time a couple of years ago, but they’ve decided to waive that for him.”
Recall that in February 2023, Duggar was sent to solitary confinement after sneaking a phone into prison. He only remained there for a month before his release in March 2023. A source previously confirmed to the publication that the 36-year-old is quite the celebrity in prison. “Josh has been signing autographs on newspaper articles about him for prisoners’ family members,” the insider alleged. With a reputation like that, it comes as no surprise that Duggar was considered for the VIP experience.
