Actor Josh Gad is bringing his writing talents to Dark Horse Comics with The Writer. This new fantasy series from the Frozen star will be a meta take on the writing process. It will combine real-world problems with fantastical elements to bring readers a heart-pumping adventure. Joining Gad on writing duties is the creative team of Ben and Max Berkowitz. The writers are joined by artist Ariel Olivetti to bring this thrilling saga to life. The Writer will span over four issues and will be published by Dark Horse Comics this June.
Josh Gad: The Actual Writer
This is Josh Gad’s first venture into the world of comic books. The actor and singer earned notoriety for several stage and film roles. He is the voice of Olaf in Disney’s Frozen. He also portrayed Lefou in the live-action Beauty and the Beast. Broadway buffs may know him best for his turn as Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon. However, he is about to add “comic book writer” to his resume. This summer, he adds Stan Siegel to his impressive list of roles.
Josh Gad’s The Writer follows Stan Siegel, a comic book storyteller known for his heroic and fantastical stories. However, Siegel soon finds himself plunged into a Nazi occult-fueled nightmare. Through folklore and magic, his hunger for answers will unveil hidden identities amid demonic chaos and high-speed chases. It will be a race against time for Stan Siegel, who must become the hero he writes about to save the world from unspeakable terrors.
A Milestone For Nerds From Nerds
Speaking on the series, Josh Gad shared that this has been both a blast and a learning experience. The actor revealed that this project is so special because it allows the creative team to celebrate personal stories. The stories in The Writer will entertain and resonate with readers. Especially as it celebrates the kind of heroism that doesn’t necessarily involve a cape or superpowers. He likens The Writer to a milestone for nerds as it proves heroes come in all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds.
The Writer #1 is on sale on 06/19 from Dark Horse.
