I have no sympathy for people who consider themselves sovereign citizens while still choosing to live in the country. I also have no sympathy for individuals who try to talk their way out of getting jail time because of their sovereign citizenry. A video reposted to Reddit depicts that exact situation in a courtroom, and let me tell you, the odds were never in the defendant’s favor.
The video depicts a recorded courtroom conversation concerning the defendant, David Hall, and his felony and misdemeanor charges. It becomes apparent quickly that the person standing before the judge will be an issue as he tries to explain how David Hall, the person, and David Hall, the individual, are two different entities. The sovereign citizen insists on this, eventually forcing the judge to play along to get his point across.
Eventually, the two settle on referring to David Hall as the settler, the agent, and the individual. After being told what his sentence would be David Hall asks for his remedy, to which the judge asks who he is speaking on behalf of. Of course, this confuses the man and even gets on the nerves of the other prisoners behind him. By the end of the video, the judge has had enough and tells him that he simply won’t be leaving jail.
The top comment on the post depicts exactly what everyone who watched the video must be thinking:
“”I feel like you’re trying to confuse me” says the sovereign citizen that is trying to do that exact thing”
Hopefully, the man will never be released to the public. He is unstable, and realistically, I’m not really sure if he’s capable of following any laws.
“The funny thing is he was only getting confused by his own bull****”
I know that I wouldn’t want to ever run into him in the wild. Personally, the longer he spends in jail, the better.
