January 2023’s issue of Asahi Shimbun’s Nemuki+ magazine announced that horror author Junji Ito will launch a new short manga series. The series is tentatively titled Kakugettsu Ito Junji (Bimonthly Junji Ito) in the magazine’s next issue.
As of now, it is unknown what kind of stories will appear in this new horror collection. Ito has not given any hints about what he plans to include or the content it will contain.
Art from Ito’s Slumber story in The Liminal Zone also appeared on the magazine’s front cover. The fourth story in the collection is reprinted in the issue. Currently, Viz Media licensed the collection and released it on July 26th. There is also an anime anthology series titled Junji Ito Collection available to stream on Crunchyroll.
Junji Ito: Stepping Into Horror Manga Once Again
Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, a new anime based on 20 different Ito stories, will debut on Netflix on January 19th, 2023. This horror anthology is directed by Karou Sawada and will contain 12 episodes. Newly announced stories that will be featured in the anime include The Story of the Mysterious Tunnel, Mold, Layers of Fear, Tomie, The Thing That Drifted Ashore, and Back Alley. Currently, the anime is being animated by Studio Deen (Fate/Stay Night, Konosuba, and Seven Deadly Sins).

Horror author Junji Ito has been at the forefront of the Japanese horror manga world for years. His work features art in his stunning and shocking styles and original storylines. His titles include names such as Hanging Balloon, Uzumaki, and Tomie.
The Kakugettsu Ito Junji (Bimonthly Junji Ito) manga series will be launched in February 2023. It is unknown when the series will have an official Western release.
