Jurassic World: Dominion is just one of a number of movies that has seen its production and/or release schedule interrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak. Hopefully, there are brighter times on the horizon as the curve flattens and life can go back to some sort of normality.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow, the latest film in the Jurassic Park franchise is looking to resume production early next month, July 6th to be exact. Filming is due to recommence at Pinewood Studios in the UK and Universal has earmarked an approximate sum of $5 million for various safety protocols.

They will include thousands of COVID-19 tests for the various cast and crew members, to be tested both before and during filming. Plans to build walk-through temperature stations with security guards preventing any untested person from entering the set. COVID-19 training will be provided along with hand sanitizer stations and safety signs because you can’t have safety without signs.

In an exclusive with Deadline, a senior production executive from Universal confirmed that masks will be compulsory for everyone other than actors while performing and anyone with symptoms will be immediately isolated and sent home.

Jurassic World

The entire entertainment industry will no doubt be looking at the production of Jurassic World: Dominion to see what the new normal could look like as we try to come out of the pandemic.

Having stopped production in March during week 4 of a planned 20-week shoot there is still plenty of work to be done on the third Jurassic World film. Let’s hope these safety protocols do the trick and filming goes off without a hitch, the world could certainly use some cheering up at the moment.

Jurassic World: Dominion is still scheduled to release on June 11, 2021, and will see the return of original cast members Sam Neill, Luara Dern, and Jeff Goldblum along with the Jurassic World ever-present couple of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

I’m looking forward to the film and hopefully, it won’t let us down. Let us know your thoughts about it in the comments. Life finds a way.
