Last week, Avengers: Age of Ultron dominated the box office with an incredible $187.7 million domestic opening. The movie is expected to finish the weekend passing the $800 million mark worldwide. The Marvel movies as a whole have always brought in big numbers for the box office. Some of the standalone movies earn more than others for example neither Captain America or Thor have yet to pass any of the Iron Man movies at the domestic box office.
This is due to Iron Man being the poster-boy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This can be attributed to Robert Downey Jr’s performance combined with the fact that Iron Man draws in a worldwide audience that neither Captain America or any other other Avengers have been able to grasp.
Next Summer, Captain America: Civil War will start the Summer Blockbuster season on May 6th. This will be the third film in the Captain America trilogy though what will make Captain America: Civil War stand out is that it won’t just feature Captain America but feature a large number of other characters from the Marvel Universe. Captain America: Civil War is looking like another Avengers movie with its line-up including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and more. Check out the complete list below.
