Justin Bieber is caught up in yet another controversy, and this time, it’s for supporting Chris Brown. In his latest Instagram post, the “Baby” singer revealed he was celebrating Brown’s release from prison by listening to his music. Since the R&B star has had multiple run-ins with the law over the years, fans are criticizing Bieber for standing beside him despite his history.
Justin Bieber and Chris Brown Share Instagram Interaction
Justin Bieber was golfing with his friend Eddie Benjamin when he decided to put on Chris Brown’s music. In a video shared on Instagram, the pair could be seen driving around in a golf cart while jamming out to “Indigo” from Brown’s 2019 album of the same name. The Australian musician filmed Bieber getting so into the moment that he sang the track word for word. Even after Benjamin stepped off the vehicle, Bieber continued blasting “Indigo” while driving away by himself. Bieber reposted the clip to his Instagram Story alongside a caption showing his support for Brown following his arrest. “@chrisbrownofficial welcome home swaglordddddd,” he wrote.
Brown responded to Bieber’s post by writing back, “Love you bro ❤️.”

Behind the Arrest
Justin Bieber and Chris Brown’s Instagram interaction comes just two weeks after the latter was arrested and charged with “grievous bodily harm” on Thursday, May 15. Brown was at a hotel in Manchester, England, when he was taken into custody due to an altercation that happened in February 2023.
According to People, Brown allegedly attacked producer Abe Diaw with a bottle of tequila at TAPE nightclub in London. Diaw sued Brown over the incident months later. In his lawsuit, he claimed that Brown gave him several “crushing blows” to the head. Despite knocking him unconscious, the singer allegedly “continued to ruthlessly stomp” on Diaw. After going to the hospital for injuries sustained on his head and leg, Diaw said he was left with “permanent” damage and “severe emotional distress” over the attack.
Brown was initially denied bail following his arrest. However, he was later released on $6.7 million bail on Wednesday, May 21.
Will He Still Tour?
As part of the conditions of his release, Chris Brown will be allowed to embark on his Breezy Bowl XX tour. The trek, which will see him perform in stadiums, will kick off in Amsterdam on June 8. After performing across Europe, Brown will take his tour to North America starting on July 30. His shows will conclude with a performance in Memphis on Oct. 18.
Due to Brown’s legal troubles, many have chosen not to support his new music and tour. Since Justin Bieber has chosen to support Brown despite the allegations, fans are upset with him. They’re calling him a “loser” and “weirdo” for backing Brown and urging others to “cancel both already.”
