Justin Bieber is keeping fans on their toes when it comes to his next big career move. The “Sorry” singer recently made headlines by changing his Instagram username to @lilbieber. His new handle sparked various theories about the reason behind the change, including the possibility of Bieber becoming a rapper. Although the idea of a rebrand seemed far-fetched to some, everyone is now convinced he’s going for it after seeing his latest post in the studio.
Is Justin Bieber Rebranding As A Rapper?
On Monday, June 30, Justin Bieber shared a series of photos hinting he’s working on new music. One picture showed the pop star with a serious expression as he jotted down notes. Another featured him shirtless while standing in the middle of a recording studio. He had his arms outstretched on either side of him. Also pictured was a computer screen displaying mysterious music files. A third shot had Bieber and a friend standing in front of a soundboard system and speakers. Meanwhile, the rest of Bieber’s post featured images of him boxing with someone.
Bieber has been teasing his return to music for a while now. However, fans are crossing their fingers that he’ll finally release new material. “Please tell me you’re dropping music soon,” one person said. Some even speculate that Bieber’s decision to use the song “Justin Beiber” by Lil B in his post could be a hint that he is crossing over to rap. After all, Bieber did spark rumors of a career rebrand last week by changing his handle to @lilbieber. For years, he just went by his full name, Justin Bieber, on Instagram, so the update to @lilbieber came as a shock to his followers. Due to all of the talk about Bieber possibly releasing rap music, one person claimed that his next record “might be his craziest album.”
It’s About Time He Released New Music
Throughout his career, Justin Bieber has released a total of six studio albums. He made his debut with his first EP, My World, in November 2009. Just a few months later, the pop star dropped his first full-length album, My World 2.0, in March 2010. Since then, he’s come out with Under the Mistletoe, Believe, Purpose, Changes, and most recently, Justice.
Fans have gone four years without a new Justin Bieber album. During his hiatus, Bieber has been focusing on his personal life. After getting married to Hailey Bieber in September 2018, the couple renewed their wedding vows in May 2024. Around the same time, he and the Rhode founder announced they were expecting their first child. Their son, Jack Blues Bieber, then arrived that August. In the months following his son’s birth, Bieber has shared glimpses of their child on Instagram.
After being away from the spotlight for so long, could Bieber really be ready to return to music? Only time will tell.
