Justin Timberlake might escape unscathed from his ongoing DWI case. A new update reveals that the arresting officers possibly made a mistake that might cause the case to be tossed. This information surfaced months after the singer was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence in New York.
Per reports, some of Timberlake’s friends intervened when cops pulled him over for speeding past a stop sign. Recall, in June, the singer was leaving a party at a Sag Harbour hotel when the arrest happened. The Cry Me a River singer allegedly reeked of alcohol and failed multiple sobriety field tests. Although he refused to blow into a Breathalyzer, the officers found enough reason to take him in. According to new sources, the vehicle Timberlake was following before he was stopped returned to the arrest scene.
The informant told TMZ that a couple stepped out and the woman asked the cops, “Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake?” She reportedly offered to take the wheel from Timberlake, while urging the officers to let him go. However, when they didn’t budge, she requested to drive the singer’s rental car home while he went to jail. They agreed.
Unfortunately, sources claim the woman was also drinking at the party and appeared inebriated during her interaction with the cops. Timberlake’s attorney reportedly wants to argue in court that the officers displayed poor judgment. He believes that if the policemen failed to recognize that the woman was too drunk to drive, they couldn’t have properly evaluated his client.
Justin Timberlake Ready To Face ‘Consequences’ Of Arrest
While the new update could mean a clean slate for the Grammy winner, a previous source revealed that Timberlake is ready for whatever comes his way. According to the insider, “Justin is prepared to face whatever consequences he needs to. He is hoping to learn from this experience and put it behind him.”
The source explained that Timberlake had the full backing of his wife Jessica Biel, his kids, and friends. “Justin is still putting his energy into his family and focus on his tour,” the insider added. “He is ready to move forward in a positive way and pouring himself into his work commitments and even creating new music.” Whether the case is dismissed or not, Timberlake seems to be in the right place mentally.
