Kate Middleton has a soft spot for her father-in-law King Charles as they both battle cancer, with the future of their health and recovery shrouded in mystery. It’s been a challenging period for the British royal family, especially with the monarch and his daughter-in-law battling cancer at the same time. Kate opened up about her cancer diagnosis in March, admitting in her video that the family had it tough amid their health challenges. Yet, rather than dwell on her own battle, Kate Middleton is more worried about the wellbeing of the monarch, and her husband Prince William.
Kate Middleton and Prince Charles Bond Over Cancer Battles
Unsurprisingly, the two ailing royals have found common grounds amid their respective battles, bonding over their shared health challenges. Despite the growing health concerns surrounding them, Kate Middleton has a positive outlook on her health, channelling her energy instead towards ensuring King Charles beats cancer and enjoys many more years on the throne. She’s also concerned about her husband, who suffered the loss of his mom nearly three decades ago. A royal insider revealed,
“Kate knows she’ll be OK, so she is very focused on Charles and his journey back to health… She doesn’t want her husband to lose another parent.”
As King Charles continues on his path to recovery from cancer, Kate Middleton remains a pillar of comfort, ensuring the monarch doesn’t face the storm alone. The insider noted that although the two have come to bond over their cancer battles, Kate would have supported her father-in-law regardless. Notably, the two have spent the last two decades breeding their familial ties. Hence, supporting each other at this time isn’t exactly out of place. The source explained,
“They feel less alone together. Kate would have been there for Charles no matter what, of course, but now when she finds something that gives her comfort — like a new TV show that takes her mind off of everything — she makes certain to share it with Charles.”
20 Years Around the Sun
Further explaining the extent of their bond, the insider revealed how Kate Middleton and Prince Charles first met when she started dating Prince William in college. They’ve remained in each other’s lives for the past 20 years. The insider added,
“The comfort is there. They can sit on the couch together and talk about what’s going on in their lives.”
Just like Kate, the King also cherishes the bond between them, holding his daughter-in-law in high esteem. In fact, King Charles could think of no one better to recommend as the newest member of the Order of the Companions of Honor than Kate Middleton despite her continued absence from public duties amid her cancer recovery. Kate’s appointment as a Royal companion of the order made her the first royal to join the coveted order. Although clearly deserved, the appointment is a reflection of the high esteem in which King Charles holds the Princess of Wales.
