Everyone loves Keanu Reeves, but you have to be on another level of delusion believing the celebrity loves you just as you adore him, especially if he’s never met you. Unfortunately, one unhinged fan was waiting to ambush the John Wick star when he was leaving the stage door at his Broadway play Waiting For Godot in New York. At first, all seemed well when Keanu entered his limo, until multiple security guards rushed to stop a woman attempting to get into the vehicle.
Calling herself his “divine wife,” the security grappled the delusional fan as she tried to get to Keanu Reeves. They backed off once the limo started to take off, but little did they know just how obsessed the woman was. She chased down the car and tried the door handle to get inside.
The same guards had to pull her back again, but were quite frustrated by this time with her noncooperation. They threw her down on the pavement of the New York street. Madly blinded with love, Keanu Reeves’ parasocial “divine wife” still walked out into the middle of the road, calling out to the limo as it drove off. While this behavior is most definitely unacceptable, people felt pity for the obsessed fan.
“People have no idea what obsession really looks like, unto it shows up calling you its wife and trying to fight your security,” remarked a Reddit commenter. “Sheโs never even met the man personally and she was willing to get hit by a truck for it ๐ mental health is not focused on enough in this country,” expressed another. A few believe she might have been scammed by a “fake message” from Keanu Reeves, as faux celebrities chatting with fans is quite common on the internet. “Thatโs really distressing to see,” one person chimed in.

While many commenters criticized or felt sorry for the delusional New York fan of The Matrix star, plenty of others were delighted with how well the person filming caught everything on camera. “Best Camera man this year! ๐ฉ You had one job and you did it! ๐ญ๐๐คฃ” exclaimed a TikTok comment. As for Keanu Reeves’ real lover, it’s well-known at this point that he’s dating American visual artist Alexandra Grant. The 61-year-old and the 52-year-old started dating earlier this year, according to Elle. Glamour also reports that the two have known each other for several years as friends, as their relationship eventually bloomed into romance.
That all said, Keanu Reeves is known by fans to be quite humble and friendly, but even he probably wouldn’t appreciate interacting with a random obsessed fan, especially one who believes she’s already practically married to him.
