After nearly two decades together, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have officially finalized their divorce. The former couple submitted their settlement on Tuesday in a Nashville court, ending a marriage that began with a whirlwind romance in Australia. Their split, amicably handled, assigns Kidman as the primary parent, with Urban maintaining parenting time every other weekend.
Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban’s Amicable Split After Two Decades
The Academy Award-winning actress filed for divorce in September, citing irreconcilable differences. Kidman listed Sept. 30 as the date of separation in her filing, and requested primary residential custody of their two minor daughters. The settlement ensures that neither Urban nor Kidman will pay alimony, and child support has been set at $0.
The couple first met in 2005 and married a year later in Sydney. Over the years, they balanced their high-profile careers with family life, often emphasizing their commitment to their daughters. Urban previously reflected on this balance in a 2023 interview with Fox News Digital:
“It’s always family first. It’s balanced, so it means it goes out of balance sometimes, and we just put it back in balance. It’s never perfectly in balance, but we get it back on track.”
Life Moves On: Separate Paths and Priorities
Despite their divorce, both Kidman and Urban appear to be focused on their respective careers and parenting roles. Kidman will continue as the primary caregiver, while Urban maintains consistent parenting weekends. Their approach highlights a mutual respect and prioritization of family, even amid personal changes.
This settlement marks the end of nearly 20 years of marriage but demonstrates that high-profile splits can be handled with civility. With child support set at $0 and no alimony, the duo seems committed to maintaining balance for the sake of their children, proving that even in separation, cooperation is possible.
